The group begins with a two-day retreat in September, then a one-day tour of Stark County in October, as well as one full day each month on some aspect of the community including economics, social services, government, education and justice, among others. Specific training towards non-profit board service and the opportunity to interview with non-profits for board positions leads class members directly to significant community involvement. A hands-on project designed to develop community assets completes the experience.
